Description of Position

***Position start date January 13, 2021***

***Up to $3,000 relocation reimbursement available for qualified candidates***

The Instructional Designer consults, trains, and serves as a resource to faculty, administrators, and instructional staff in the design, development, evaluation and revision of teaching, learning, programs, curriculum, and assessment needs.  The incumbent is able to initiate and devise innovative solutions for a wide range of instructional issues and projects so as to improve student learning and enhance faculty teaching.

Through collaboration with other team members:

·         Designs and/or assists faculty in the design of engaging and effective instructional materials.

·         Assists in the development of course materials that are functional, intuitive, informative, and consistent with sound instructional design principles

·         Develops and provides recommendations for interface design, sequencing of instructions, use of assessments, and design of course materials and activities

·         Assists in assessing the instructional effectiveness of course materials that are developed

·         Contributes to the development and implementation of sound workplace practices to automate services and facilitate communications among staff and with clients

·         Continually explores new technologies for potential application to instructional problems and opportunities

·         Consults, trains, and serves as a resource to faculty, administrators, and instructional staff in the design, development, evaluation and revision of teaching, learning, programs, curriculum, and assessment needs.

·         Assists in staff development on instructional applications of technologies and instructional methods

·         Facilitates the implementation of instructional innovations

·         Explores and evaluates new technologies, materials, and techniques for their applicability to educational uses in the online environment

·         Recommends procedures and solutions for effective learning

·         Researches, writes, and produced documentation and instructional materials to support faculty teaching and learning endeavors as well as student success

·         Develops trainings/workshops for faculty and staff on how to utilize instructional applications in the classroom

·         Supports professional development trainings and orientations for faculty and students

·         Other related duties as assigned

Duties may be split between Prescott and Verde Valley campuses. NOTE: This job can be done remotely for the first year. After that time, the position will be hybrid onsite/remote and the incumbent must be able to work on campus as needed.

Minimum Expectations & Requirements

·         Bachelor's Degree in instructional technology, distance learning, or other related discipline

·         Four years of experience in instructional design and courseware development; knowledge of learning theory, instructional theory, and applications of media to instructional scenarios

·         Ability to implement Quality Matters into online courses

·         Demonstrated knowledge of online course technology (such as Canvas, Panopto, Zoom, Camtasia, Turnitin, HTML, Wordpress)

·         Demonstrated experience developing instructional or training materials

·         Demonstrated experience integrating technology into the teaching and learning process

·         Demonstrated experience in development and delivery of workshops and individual faculty consultation

·         Ability to travel

·         Regular attendance is an essential job function as it demonstrates dependability towards the performance of job duties

Preferred Skills & Abilities

·         Graduate degree in instructional technology, instructional design, distance learning, learning/educational psychology, or other related discipline

·         Greater than four years of experience in instructional design and courseware development

·         Experience with or knowledge of course redesign principles and practices

·         Professional experience in a community college/higher education work environment.
