Job Description

The Instructional Designer will support Best Western objectives by creating and producing high quality, relevant and compelling web-based instructor-led learning modules, training guides, job aides, instructional guides and checklists. They will work with subject matter experts (SME) to identify target audience's training needs.

Essential Job Results

  •  Design training materials by working with SMEs and stakeholders to identify and target a specific audience's needs.
  • Keep up to date on industry trends and learning technologies by conducting instructional research and analysis. They will apply tested instructional design theories, practices and methods.
  • Work with department representatives and stakeholders to outline the concept for a course, define the instructional method, delivery method, accompanying materials, and how training results will be measured.
  • Work with vendors as needed to contract work in various stages of the production process including instructional design and development, voice over talent, video production and graphics to produce draft and final versions of each course.
  • Collect feedback from stakeholders and users then revise instructional content and delivery methods.
  • Facilitate training programs during various stages of the development process, including beta testing.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in designing and producing instructor-led, online or web-based training in a variety of modalities including: eLearning (online asynchronous), webcasts (synchronous), classroom, blended, job aides, instructional guides, SOP design, instructional video and micro-learning.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design or Educational Technology preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Solid knowledge of course development software – Adobe products (Captivate, Acrobat, Flash) and rapid e-Learning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, Lectora).
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text and audio scripts/video scripts.
  • Ability to conceptually and intuitively understand how people learn.
  • Skilled in digital and/or graphic design.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level organizational project planning and coordination skills.
