Job Description

Title: Innovation and Technology Coordinator

Reports to: Head of School

Job Goal: Provide leadership for the integration of innovative technologies to support

student learning across the entire Preschool-8th Grade curriculum, including

learning applications, coding, robotics, MakerSpace, design thinking and

STEAM initiatives. The Innovation and Technology Coordinator will work

with students, teachers, and the administration to establish and maintain a

cutting-edge educational technology program at Summit School.


Performance Responsibilities:

Instruction and Academic Support

• Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to plan and deliver technology integrated

lessons that support technology across the curriculum, both in the lab and in the

classroom.

• Work with teachers to model, coach, and teach technology skills to meet International

Society of Technology in Education (ISTE), Arizona's College and Career Ready

Standards and Summit Standards.

• Support development and implementation of STEAM initiatives across the curriculum.

• Teach tech elective class to middle school students each quarter.

• Collaborate with Art Department faculty to continue integration of design thinking into

the curriculum.

• Apply and model legal and ethical use of technology skills.

• Model effective use of the internet for students and teachers.

• Use appropriate strategies to manage resources and the learning environment in the

computer lab and the classroom.

• Research and disseminate to staff current educational technology best practices, emerging

technologies, and opportunities.


Technology Integration Leadership

• Serve as in-house expert and thought leader regarding current and emerging technology

and instructional practices that relate to the use of technology

• Provide technology leadership in the school by collaborating with the Head of School

and teachers in support of the school improvement plan.

• Assist in the design and implementation of professional development in technology

integration for school staff based on state and national standards for professional

development.

• Assist teachers as they integrate technology and utilize technology resources.

• Model creative and innovative uses of technology in the classroom.

• Assist with developing local partnerships to advance technology and innovation

Initiatives.


Technical Support to Teachers

• Assist when possible with minor maintenance and/or make arrangements for necessary

repairs of technology resources.

• Coordinate daily scheduling and operation of the Techno Den to provide equitable access

for all students.

• Establish and/or maintain rules and procedures for the lab in collaboration with school

staff.

• Work with the Systems Administrator to maintain and update software and hardware

Inventories.


Other Duties

• Facilitate at least one extracurricular technology club or after-school enrichment class per

semester.


Qualifications

• Possession of, or eligibility for, Arizona teaching certificate.

• Minimum of two years of outstanding teaching experience in a K-8 setting.

• Experience with administration of a learning management system.

• Successful use of technology to support instruction.

• Demonstration of strong leadership and organizational ability.

• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.

• Effective interpersonal skills to work with teachers, administrators, and parents.

• Commitment to a continuous process for professional growth.

• Experience with school, district, and state technology-related standards and initiatives.

• Interest, knowledge, or experience in robotics, coding, and makerspaces.

Salary: To be determined based on qualifications and experience. Terms and conditions

are based on the Summit teacher contract.
