ETC Graduate Student Award Results

Hi all,
As you may know, we conducted the ETC Graduate Student Award a bit
differently this time. Nominated students recorded a presentation that
described and detailed their capstone projects in Eliminate. The
presentations were then viewed and voted upon by the rest of the Ed Tech
graduating students.

It's my pleasure to announce that Dallas McPheeters and Ramsey Adams
tied to receive the Ed Tech Graduate Award for their exceptional
Capstone Projects. Please take a few minutes to check out their
projects and wish them a hearty congratulations!

* *Project Title:* Introduction to Virtual Learning Environments 101
* *Abstract/Notes:* Advanced trends in technology have led hundreds
of Universities to investigate multi-user virtual environments
(MUVEs). Constructivist learning strategies fit well within 3D
virtual classrooms where students manipulate their Avatars and
construct objects collaboratively. Virtual technologies offer
students greater varieties of learning experiences. This project
explores the enhanced instructional strategies available in 3D MUVEs.

* *Abstract:* The iNet Language Project seeks to demonstrate the
effectiveness of tandem learning via a voice forum on obtaining
measurable improvement of target language speaking skills, learner
confidence, and generating a heightened cultural awareness of the
target culture. The project brings together university students
from France and the United States to engage in weekly discussion
topics.

I hope all is really well. I am writing to share the updated notice for the Laura Bassi Scholarship. I would be grateful if you could once again share it with your department as well as extended network of colleagues who might know of interested master's and doctoral candidates (and junior academics). Here are the new details:   The Laura Bassi Scholarship was established by Editing Press in 2018 with the aim of providing editorial assistance to postgraduates and junior academics whose research focuses on neglected topics of study, broadly construed.
